Why is it important?
Why do we even need to make a change?
Why should we care?
-
Having a good environment is essential for our health. We all go to the doctor, take our medicines, take care of our hygiene. A good environment is beneficial for our health. Maybe it's time we do something about it.
-
Our descendants are going to live in this planet. If I get weird cramps in my chest when I think about the environment, I can't imagine how our descendants to feel. I want my kids and their kids, and their kids after. . . to live in a planet that hasn't been destroyed by human beings.
-
It won’t get better if nobody does anything about it. "If not now, when? If not us, who?" Exactly. We can't wait until someone else does something. We have to get up and fight for our planet.
-
Global Warming increases the possibility of natural disasters. I need say no more.
How it relates to the Sustainable Development Goals:
It relates to many Sustainable Development Goals, such as:
-
Good Health and wellbeing: a good environment is essential for our health.
-
Clean Water and Sanitation: a lot of plastic ends up on the ocean, and using less plastic and getting students to recycle will add up to less plastic in the ocean, which means cleaner water.
-
Affordable and Clean Energies: if we educate children to care about the environment, they will choose cleaner energies instead of ones that pollute more.
-
Sustainable Cities and Communities: we will make Alpedrete cleaner and a more sustainable town.
-
Responsible Consumption and Production: we will educate children so that they are more aware of the importance of protecting the environment, so they will be more mindful about what they are consuming.
-
Climate Action: we will be working to help the environment and reduce global warming.
-
Life below water: less plastic will end up in the ocean, and will help the animals that live there.
-
Life on land: there will be less contamination and that will help less animals that live on land die. Children will reduce their paper use, and this will help less trees to be cut down, and less animals will lose their habitats.
-
Decent work and economic growth: Ecosia plants trees, and the people who are in charge of those trees are people who before were unemployed, and in developing countries. This way, we are not only helping the environment, but also helping economy in developing countries.
